Tip: Adding Ravelry to your Home Screen
August 11th, 2017
We are frequently asked if we have an app for mobile devices. We don’t have one* and don’t have plans to create one. Instead, we continue to try to improve the mobile browsing experience you have through your mobile browser. However, one of the convenient things about an app is that there’s an icon for it right there on your home screen. While we don’t have an app, you can still add our site to your home screen. Here’s how!
*edit January 2019* please note that this no longer works on Chrome on mobile devices, but other browsers will give you the add to home screen option! end edit
For Android phone and tablet users:
1. Open the browser on your mobile device and go to www.ravelry.com
2. Click the three little dots in the upper right corner of your screen.
3. Choose the Add to Home Screen option. If you want to, you can edit the name of the site there and then click “Add”.
For iPhone/iPad users:
1. Open the browser on your mobile device and go to www.ravelry.com
2. Click the center icon on the bottom that looks like a square with an arrow pointing up.
3. Choose the Add to Home Screen icon there. If you want to, you can edit the name of the site and click “Add”.
If you want your button to take you to a different area of Ravelry, like your notebook area or the forums, you can go to that area before setting up the home screen button and it will then direct you there when you click the icon.
After you add it to your home screen, you’ll see an icon like this one that you can press to navigate to Ravelry.
*There are some apps that integrate with Ravelry created by other folks. You can find a list under the “Mobile & Apps” link at the bottom of the page.
