Ravelry’s mobile site (accessible at m.ravelry.com from any mobile phone or device that can access the internet) has some brand-new features, and we’re so excited to share them with you!

New for Mobile Site Pattern Search: Hot Right Now, Faved Patterns, and Saved Searches

new mobile site pattern search features

On the mobile site you have long been able to search the Ravelry pattern database – very handy when on the go. Now, we’ve added our popular “Hot Right Now” feature to the mobile site to the patterns section, allowing you to browse and search within the patterns that are getting lots of buzz on Ravelry at any moment, wherever you are!

From the patterns section of the mobile site, you can also now view, browse, and search your favorite patterns. In addition, if you have saved any pattern searches on Ravelry, you can access those saved searches quickly right on the mobile site. You can see my saved searches on the left side of the screenshot above, with the little magnifying glass indicator next to them. Clicking on a saved search will display the patterns from newest to oldest, so you can easily see the new pattern of your dreams.

New Mobile Site LYS Features: Amenities Indicators, Hours, Store Photos, and Yarns Carried

new mobile site LYS features

On the LYS section of the mobile site we’ve added more information to correspond to the directory listings here on Ravelry. When you search for LYSs in a certain area, like I did for Denver, CO in the screenshot above, you can see a green “r” symbol if the shop is participating in our In-Store Pattern Sales program. Click on an LYS entry now and you can now see lots of useful information about a shop (if they have listed the information on their Ravelry directory page), including their hours, whether they are wheelchair accessible, have seating available, and more!

Shop entries will also have a “details” tab, on which we show a photo and description of the shop if we have one on its directory page. If the shop is running a LYS ad on Ravelry, we will even display a list of the yarns they are advertising that they carry. (If they are not running an LYS ad, we will display yarns that have been purchased at the shop and stashed by Ravelers – we do have a note in those cases letting you know that the yarn list there might not be up to date.)

We love our Ravelry-friendly LYSs and hope that these features help bring many more happy shoppers through their doors! If you are a Local Yarn Shop owner and want to be connected to your shop’s directory listing on Ravelry (whether or not it is listed yet), or if your shop is not yet activated for In-Store Pattern Sales and you’d like to be, LYS Quick Start Guide, which has the information you need on how to get set up.
